Known as "RUM"🍹 to its friends, "Real User Monitoring" consists of observing and analysing the experience perceived by real Internet users. This can be done directly from any browser.

Once this tag is in place, Quanta is able to record the experience of all users with or without sampling which provides a very accurate view of key performance metrics (e.g. TTFB, Speed Index, full page load time, etc.)
The key benefits provided by the RUM are :
a view for performance as measured by Internet users themselves. Example: if the site is mostly consulted by Internet users using Safari and the site's code works particularly badly on it, it will be immediately apparent that a problemon this particular browserimpacts a majority of the site's traffic.
a view for performance for all pages consulted by Internet users. This is a major difference from the Synthetic Monitoring which measures certain pages. Conversely, the RUM data collector will record performance metrics (TTFB, Speed Index, etc.) each time a click is made on the site. The result is the construction of a real-time cross-referenced view of the most visited pages with their respective performance ratings:
