Known as "RUM"🍹 to its friends, "Real User Monitoring" consists of observing and analysing the experience perceived by real Internet users. This can be done directly from any browser.

⚠️ It is important to note that :

• this feature involves the addition of an external tag in the page, which is designed to be loaded asynchronously and is extremely light in its operation so as not to slow down the user's navigation on the site.
• the type of data returned by the browser through the Quanta tag and how Quanta stores this data in its database make it excluded from GDPR consent. Indeed, the figures reported via the tag are purely technical and non-nominal. The Quanta dashboard makes it possible to observe the behaviour of the site for different types of browsers (Chrome, Safari Mobile, EDGE, etc.) but without the possibility of tracing it back to a single user.

Once this tag is in place, Quanta is able to record the experience of all users with or without sampling which provides a very accurate view of key performance metrics (e.g. TTFB, Speed Index, full page load time, etc.)

The key benefits provided by the RUM are :

• a view for performance as measured by Internet users themselves. Example: if the site is mostly consulted by Internet users using Safari and the site's code works particularly badly on it, it will be immediately apparent that a problemon this particular browserimpacts a majority of the site's traffic.

  

• a view for performance for all pages consulted by Internet users. This is a major difference from the Synthetic Monitoring which measures certain pages. Conversely, the RUM data collector will record performance metrics (TTFB, Speed Index, etc.) each time a click is made on the site.
